World famous in New Zealand!
L&P. The original L&P, Lemon and Paeroa. You guys know what I'm talking about, right? Shortly after we moved here, Trey's friend Alex was over as I was unloading some groceries. "Ya gotta try L&P!" he told us. "Lemon and Paeroa! It's made from the water there mixed with lemon. Lemon and Paeroa water! Ya gotta get some!"
We got some and we liked it. It's a bit odd, not crazy weird or anything, but not quite like anything we've tried before either. It's a soda (pop for you Southerners) made from sparkling mineral water from deep underneath the city of Paeroa, about 120 km south of Auckland, mixed with something lemony and sweet. It's only available in New Zealand, and it's world famous in New Zealand since ages ago, just so you know.
Since we had to go through Paeroa, a funky little town, on the way to/from the Karangahake Gorge last weekend, we even ate dinner at their fancy little café, where you can find L&P flavored ice cream, too. Choice-as!
